Framer or WordPress? Depends what the site has to do.

For a marketing site of six to twenty pages, Framer is usually faster to build, faster to load, and dramatically cheaper to maintain because there are no plugins to update. WordPress remains the better choice for large content operations, complex e-commerce, membership systems, or when you already have in-house WordPress skill.
Where WordPress is still the right answer
WordPress powers a huge share of the web for good reasons. If any of these describe you, WordPress is the better platform and we would say so.
- Serious e-commerce, especially large catalogues, complex tax or shipping rules, or a WooCommerce setup that already works
- Memberships, courses, gated content or forums, where the plugin ecosystem is genuinely unmatched
- A large publishing operation with many authors, editorial workflow and hundreds of posts
- You already have WordPress skill in-house. Switching platforms to solve a problem you do not have is expensive
- A deep integration that exists as a WordPress plugin and nowhere else
Where Framer wins for a marketing site
For the sites we most often build, a six to twenty page site whose job is to explain, persuade and convert, the maintenance difference is the whole argument. A WordPress site is a small ongoing operations job. A Framer site mostly is not.
- No plugin maintenance, which is the source of most WordPress breakage and most security incidents
- Fast by default, rather than fast after a caching plugin, an image plugin and a CDN
- Design fidelity, because the build is not fighting a theme's assumptions
- Edits that do not need a developer for routine copy and image changes
- Hosting and SSL handled, so there is no second vendor relationship to manage
The honest trade-off
Framer is a smaller ecosystem. If you need something unusual, there may simply be no plugin for it, where WordPress would have five. That constraint is the price of the simplicity, and it is a bad trade for a complex application and a good one for a marketing site. Can I migrate from WordPress to Framer?+
Usually yes. The work is in mapping redirects so existing rankings survive, and in deciding what content is worth bringing. Same Day Garage Door involved a 90+ page CMS migration.
Is Framer good for SEO?+
Yes. It renders real HTML, it is fast by default, and schema and metadata are fully controllable. Speed and structure are platform strengths here rather than things you bolt on.
What if I outgrow Framer?+
You own the domain and the content, so a move is a migration rather than a hostage negotiation. Being honest about it: a migration is real work, which is why the platform question is worth answering properly at the start.
Do you build in WordPress if we need it?+
If your project genuinely needs WordPress, we would rather tell you that than sell you the wrong platform. Recommending against your own default is the only way that advice means anything.
